THORAVEJ 29
– A COMMUNITY WHERE GOOD INTENTIONS BECOME ACTUAL TRANSFORMATION IN SOCIETY
Our new home is ready in 2025. In the meantime, you can find us at Lygten 39.
Community
Everything we do is centered around transforming society and mobilising the willing and able. It’s not a simple task. But it’s important.
We live in a society with many good intentions but see too little actual change happening. Thoravej 29 is a professional network and meeting point for people and organisations that share the conviction that we can and must do better.
Most of us stem from the social field and arts, but many other forward-thinking organisations have joined our mission. Common amongst all, is the ambition to break habitual thinking and work across professions, interests, and power positions. To inspire growth within each other and the society we engage in.

THORAVEJ 29 AT LYGTEN 39
The community Thoravej 29 takes its name from the address of our future home in Copenhagen’s Nordvest district. Here, we are building a home born to break habitual thinking and expand your imagery.
The building is ready in 2025. In the meantime, you can find us at Lygten 39, where we are starting conversations and establishing partnerships to bring with us, when we relocate in 2025. To a true incubator of development and innovation.
THE BUILDING
FACILITIES BORN TO BREAK HABITUAL THINKING
In 2024, the building at Thoravej 29 will become a new stage for society’s most forward-thinking individuals and organisations. It will house a community for the ones willing and able to create groundbreaking change in society.
The building will comprise of workspaces, meeting rooms, collaboration areas, a studio for sound and video, a café, and in the centre of it all, a big stage for progressive debates and inspiring conversations. In addition, Art Hub Copenhagen will set up studios, workshops, and exhibition areas for artists. Likewise, the HAUT residency centre will run a black box for performing-arts development. All of which is carried out in sustainable architecture.
REPURPOSING THE BUILDING
Bikubenfonden, Pihlmann Architects, Hoffmann A/S, and ABC Rådgivende Ingeniører have been selected to carry out the transformation of Thoravej 29. They work with a firm focus on sustainability. The guiding philosophy is to repurpose all materials from the old building to the extent possible. So, instead of disposing materials, we will repurpose them e.g., using floor partitions as stairs. And excess façade tiles will be salvaged for flooring.
The transformation is expected to earn DGNB gold certification and is due to be complete in 2025. We can’t wait to show you.
