UP develops and strengthens independent performing arts

UP offers a wide range of activities, including mentorship programs, residency programs, seminars, knowledge-sharing, and advisory services for the independent and experimental performing arts scene. UP also provides rehearsal spaces, where performing arts works are actively created — often addressing socially relevant themes and frequently taking place outside traditional theatre venues across the country.

Four focus areas

Their work benefits performing arts practitioners, audiences, and the cultural sector as a whole in both Denmark and internationally. Their efforts are defined within four key focus areas, where they aim to:

• Improve production conditions for the independent performing arts
• Strengthen entrepreneurship and internationalisation within the independent performing arts
• Increase cohesion and collaboration across the Danish performing arts sector
• Enhance the visibility of the independent performing arts
